Committees

The Vine Neighborhood Association is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to improve the overall quality of life in the Vine Neighborhood. We seek to do so by building long-term residency, encouraging the renovation and preservation of our historic homes, supporting economic success, enhancing safety and security, reducing density, promoting volunteer activism, and building community by joining neighbors together.
Want to help? We meet at the VNA office at 814 S. Westnedge every third Tuesday of the month at 5:30 pm, and we are powered by a number of volunteer committees which also meet regularly. All are welcome!

Our Committees:

Executive Committee: A meeting of the Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, and Executive Director of the VNA. Meets at the VNA on the second Tuesday of the month at 5:30 pm. Open to the public.

Community Care: Formerly known as “Neighborhood Watch,” this is a meeting of board and community members interested in the safety and community wellbeing of the Vine Neighborhood. It’s occasionally attended by Kalamazoo Public Safety Officer Ryan Shank to give community members a direct line of communication with KPS. Meets at the VNA on the first Tuesday of the month at 5:30 pm.

Community Cares ommittee Reports

Housing: A meeting of board and community members interested in improving conditions for neighborhood residents and securing stable, affordable housing for all. Currently hard at work on an initiative to help residents fix their sidewalks and make them more accessible. Meets after Community Care at the VNA on the first Tuesday of the month at 6 pm.

Housing Committee Reports

Events: A meeting of board and community members interested in planning events in the neighborhood. Also oversees the publication of the Vine Line newsletter. If you’d like to host an event at the VNA or rent out the VNA office for an event, contact events@vineneighborhood.org or attend meetings at the VNA on the first and third Monday of the month at 5:30 pm.

Finance: A meeting of board and community members concerned with the finances of the Association. If you’d like to inquire about ways we can help support your small business, contact finance@vineneighborhood.org or attend meetings at the VNA on the fourth Tuesday of the month at 5:30 pm.

Property Management: A meeting of board and community members working with VNA staff to manage and maintain the building assets of the Association. Meeting time is the second Thursday of the month at 2:00pm
